The MikroTik RB5009UG+S+IN is a compact yet exceptionally powerful router designed to meet the demands of heavy-duty home labs and professional environments. Engineered with feedback from the user community, this device delivers up to double the performance of comparable form-factor models under heavy CPU loads.
At its core, the router features a Marvell Armada quad-core 1.4 GHz ARM 64-bit CPU and a Marvell Amethyst switch-chip, linked by a high-speed 10 Gbps full-duplex line. It is equipped with 1 GB of DDR4 RAM and 1 GB of NAND storage, ensuring efficient handling of complex configurations and routing tasks.
Connectivity is highly versatile, offering nine wired ports and a full-sized USB 3.0 port. This includes seven Gigabit Ethernet ports, a single 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port for high-speed local networking, and a 10G SFP+ cage for fibre uplinks. The physical design is optimised for efficiency; both the CPU and switch-chip are positioned at the bottom of the board, allowing the durable metallic enclosure to function as a highly effective passive heat-sink.
For flexible deployment, the RB5009UG+S+IN supports three distinct powering methods: 802.3af/at PoE-in on Ethernet port 1, a standard DC jack, and a 2-pin terminal on the side. Additionally, its space-saving design allows up to four of these units to be mounted side-by-side in a single 1U rackmount space using an optional rackmount kit.
