Within the first half of 2025, DrayTek have already launched a wide range of powerful, versatile networking devices: high-speed Mesh Access Points designed to boost wireless performance and eradicate WiFi dead-spots, secure VPN routers with 4G support and automatic failover, and even a brand-new single-pane-of-glass virtual controller to tie them all together.
Today, we’re taking a look at DrayTek’s newest devices that are already making waves in the channel, their specs and features, and the perfect use-cases for each!
VAP905-K
DrayTek are already masters of Mesh WiFi, with a huge range of access points able to wirelessly mesh together to deliver seamless WiFi connectivity with a much wider coverage than any single access point could manage.
These Mesh networks are self healing, meaning that if an AP is moved or obstructed the network can autonomously reconnect and restructure itself around any drop-outs. A Mesh installation also doesn’t require network cables running between each AP - just supply them with power and configure them as needed using the intuitive Mesh Wizard, and they’ll share WiFi together seamlessly. This makes a Mesh network great for large areas like warehouses and retail centres, especially with awkward corners or obstructions which could otherwise block WiFi coverage.
The VAP905-K is DrayTek’s newest release in this line. Designed to replace the older VAP903 and VAP906, the 905 is a dual-band WiFi 6 access point, offering up to 3Gbps across the 2.4 and 5GHz bands for up to 256 simultaneously connected devices. OFDMA and MU-MIMO technology improves WiFi efficiency in especially busy and congested networks, making the AP905 a great option for high-intensity use-cases with many connections at once, and its powerful Mesh capability means it can instantly integrate into a wider AP network for greater coverage.
Aside from its powerful WiFi functionality, the AP905 can also act as a desk-mounted unmanaged switch! It features four Gigabit RJ45 LAN ports on the side, perfect for connecting VoIP phones, IP cameras and other compatible devices, as well as a 2.5G WAN port to reduce bandwidth bottlenecks.

If you’re in need of a network switch but require something a little more muscular however, never fear - DrayTek have just the thing!
VSP1281X-K
DrayTek’s VSP1281X-K is a new 24-port PoE+ network switch, rack-mountable and packed with powerful features; not only does it include a generous 140W PoE+ budget, more than enough for a network of VoIP phones, Access Points, IP Cameras and more, but the power draw of each device is automatically detected and monitored to supply the appropriate level of power through each port.
Each of its 24 x RJ45 LAN ports is Gigabit-capable for high-speed LAN connectivity, and fibre connections are also available with four SFP+ 10-Gigabit fibre uplinks.
Software-wise, the VSP1281X-K offers protocols focused on both performance and security, supporting Quality of Service with eight priority queues, port-based rate control and rate limiting, and a fleet of security measures - IP Source Guard with ARP inspection, protection against DoS attacks, automatic loop protection and prevention and detailed Access Control Lists.
To more easily segment large networks, the VSP1281X-K can encompass up to 512 different VLANs, delivering separate networks for VoIP, surveillance and management, as well as port and MAC-based VLANs.

Perhaps most impressively, despite the generous power budget and feature-set, the VSP1281X-K is fanless and runs silently, depending instead on its embedded heatsinks and intelligently-designed airflow to regulate temperature. In addition to keeping the environment quiet, the fanless design both saves on power draw and improves reliability by eliminating one of the most frequent points of failure on a switch - the spinning fans.
VSQ60X
If you’re looking for a network switch but don’t need a 24-port PoE+ professional-grade network backbone, the new VSQ60X could be for you!
This switch is a diminutive desktop-mounted 5-port powerhouse, great for demanding home networks and SMBs; it’s unmanaged and offers an easy plug-and-play installation, meaning you can skip the setup and get straight to the network expansion.
However, don’t let its compact size fool you; the Q60X features 5 x 2.5G ethernet ports for superfast wired LAN connections, as well as an SFP+ 10G port for fibre uplinks, making it perfect for cameras, access points, surveillance, VoIP phones, NAS drives and a whole host of other options.
Considering its networking capabilities, the Q60X has a remarkably low power draw, with a maximum energy consumption of just 4.85W, and can even be mounted on the wall to free up desk space!

VC410AX-K & VC510AX-K
The VC410AX and VC510AX are reliable, flexible WAN routers featuring both dual-band WiFi 6 (802.11ax) and cellular connectivity; up to 300Mbps 4G for the VC410AX, and - you guessed it - a brisk 3.4Gbps maximum throughput over 5G for the VC510AX.
Each of these routers has one primary WAN port, a backup switchable WAN/LAN port, and embedded dual SIM slots for enhanced redundancy, as well as automatic failover in case of network drops; in practice, this means two separate WAN connections, with a choice of two different cellular networks that automatically kick in in case both of these WANs fail. This means that both the VC410AX-K and VC510AX-K are excellent choices for use-cases where reliability is key, and can support mission-critical networks and applications for full peace of mind.

Both the VC410AX and VC510AX support secure and private VPN tunnels, ideal for the privacy-conscious among us, or for remote workers needing to securely access company intranets. DrayTek’s EasyVPN service makes VPN configuration quick and easy, requiring neither keys nor configs for secure VPN connections.
Each router can also support Mesh networks, and features embedded comprehensive firewall and content filters with customisable rulesets, as well as DrayTek’s free DDNS service. It’s also possible to set up a hotspot network with a captive portal, making these routers a great choice for hospitality.
Virtual Controller
DrayTek’s Virtual Controller is a new way to remotely provision, monitor and manage wireless Mesh networks; it allows network managers to manage multiple access points connected either wired or wirelessly, making it both quick and intuitive to deploy large wireless networks.
New nodes can easily be added to the root AP’s device list through a single easy interface, meaning it only takes a moment to increase or decrease WiFi coverage as a business grows; just plug the access points in, click Scan on the AP Adoption tab, and select the APs you want to adopt!
Once all the access points are successfully adopted, the Virtual Controller can offer real-time notifications and measurements on WiFi health, channel load and mesh status, and can instruct Mesh APs to automatically roll over if a node fails to assist self-healing. The virtual controller can work in tandem with DrayTek’s comprehensive remote-management system, VigorACS, meaning a single IT manager has visibility over an entire enterprise-scale network ecosystem - delivering professional, scalable networking without requiring an entire on-site IT team.
Conclusion
Throughout their near 30-year tenure in the networking sector, DrayTek have firmly cemented themselves as a major player, and the first half of 2025 proves they’re showing no signs of slowing down. With this fresh lineup of feature-rich hardware for all use-cases and a new management tool under their belt, DrayTek are continuing to empower businesses of all sizes to build fast, reliable and secure networks.
