Several devices from Shelly's Z-Wave range have been officially certified by Home Assistant, a popular open-source smart automation platform, under their 'Works With Home Assistant' initiative.
The 'Works With Home Assistant' program is designed to 'clearly indicate to the large Home Assistant community which devices provide the best smart home experience' according to Home Assistant's website, acting as a guarantee that a device has been thoroughly tested and can be seamlessly and securely integrated out of the box into a pre-existing Home Assistant smart home network.
The newly certified devices are part of Shelly's Z-Wave product line; unlike the majority of Shelly's portfolio which operate over WiFi and Bluetooth, Z-Wave devices use a different radio frequency which often results in less interference, better signal penetration through walls and more reliable range, making it a good choice for smart home and office environments.
Certified Devices
The first wave of Z-Wave devices certified by Home Assistant are:
- Shelly Wave PM Mini, a compact retrofit device able to accurately measure power usage of any device in which it's installed.
- Shelly Wave i4, a smart input reader with customisable inputs, able to control other smart home devices on the network.
- Shelly Wave 1PM Mini, the world's smallest Z-Wave smart switch, able to be installed inside standard appliances and offering both smart control and accurate power monitoring.
- Shelly Wave 2PM, a two-channel smart relay with power monitoring capabilities.
- Shelly Wave Pro 1PM, a professional-grade smart switch with power monitoring, designed to be mounted directly onto the DIN-rail of an electrical box.
More devices are set to be certified in due course, underscoring Shelly and Home Assistant's commitment to seamless, intuitive and localised Smart Home control.
