What is a Mesh WiFi Network?

What is a Mesh WiFi Network?

Mesh refers to a type of network configuration where multiple devices, such as computers or routers, are interconnected with one another in a decentralised way. Instead of relying on a single central device to manage the network traffic, each device in a mesh network can communicate directly with other devices nearby.

Think of it like a web of connections: where each device is connected to multiple other devices, creating a network of paths. So if one device fails or gets disconnected, the network can automatically reroute traffic through alternative paths, ensuring that data can still reach its destination. Mesh networks can provide broader coverage since devices act as both network nodes and access points, extending the network's reach.

Mesh networks offer a flexible, reliable, and scalable solution for networking, creating a resilient and adaptable network infrastructure.

One example would be the UniFi WiFi 6 Mesh Access Point, which can be staged anywhere in your home or office, but is also tough enough to operate reliably outdoors with its waterproof casing.
Access Point U6 Mesh – Ubiquiti Store India
Another example would be DrayTek AP960C WiFi 6 Access Point. This mesh device blends seamlessly into office interiors, and is suitable for both ceiling and wall mounting as it clips securely into its ceiling plate for sturdy mounting and easier maintenance.
