The Shelly LoRa Add-On is a compact add-on device designed to slot directly onto compatible Shelly Gen3 and Gen4 relays and boosting their effective wireless connectivity range up to a maximum of five kilometres. The add-on features a physical external antena mounted to the face plate, and uses LoRA radio combined with Shelly's protocols to faciliate dependable, secure long-range connectivity between devices. The LoRa Add-On is ideal for maintaining low-cost IoT networks over long distances, or for maintaining Shelly connectivity between different buildings.

Description

***Please note: The Shelly LoRA Add-On works in pairs to send and receive data. For a functional LoRA set-up, at least two LoRAs will be required per project - one transmitter, one receiver.

The Shelly LoRa add-on is designed as a low-cost module to complement compatible Gen3 and Gen4 devices such as the Plus 1 Gen3 or the Plus 1PM Gen3. These add-ons operate over the LoRA (Long Range) protocol to communicate data across long distances; unlike LoRAWAN technology which requires infrastructure such as cell towers or transmitters to function, Shelly's LoRA Add-On can send and receive data without requiring any additional transmitters or towers.

The Shelly LoRA's maximum range of 5km makes it an ideal addition to Shelly networks supporting city automation devices like traffic lights, making adjustments based on time and weather; however, it's equally suited to maintaining reliable IoT connectivity over great distances on farms, across multiple buildings, or on campuses.

In addition to greater distances, the LoRa add-on also helps Shelly device connectivity penetrate signal-baffling materials like concrete and metal, improving wireless connectivity inside buildings, and requires minimal setup beyond slotting the add-on onto a compatible Shelly device.
